Gold Standard for Sustainability: Geiger US Team Celebrates EcoVadis Gold Award
January 08, 2024 – Lewiston, ME – Geiger, the world's largest privately held and family-owned promotional products distributor, celebrates a double win in sustainability, with both its US and UK operations receiving prestigious EcoVadis recognitions in 2023. Geiger’s global headquarters in the US announces it has achieved a Gold rating for the first time, placing it among the top 5% of companies assessed globally. Earlier this June, Geiger’s UK office received Platinum status for the second consecutive year, solidifying its position among the top 1%.
EcoVadis, the world's leading provider of business sustainability ratings, evaluates companies across four key pillars: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. To achieve Gold, companies must score above 70% overall, demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainable practices.
"Far beyond products, it’s our purpose," stated Jo-an Lantz, Geiger’s President and CEO. "Geiger's latest Gold award reflects our commitment to sustainable sourcing and operations across the globe. This EcoVadis recognition fuels our mission to create a greener future, one product, one choice at a time."
Geiger’s UK presence continues to shine, maintaining its Platinum status for the second consecutive year. This achievement showcases the team's dedication to excellence in sustainability, solidifying Geiger's position as a global leader in the industry.
"Winning Gold in the US and retaining Platinum in the UK stands as a remarkable achievement," said David Geiger, fifth-generation family member, VP, and General Counsel. “This acknowledgment reaffirms that we’re on the right path. By prioritizing environmental and social responsibility, Geiger is not only setting a positive example for the industry, but creating a more sustainable future for all."
Geiger's dedication to sustainability is evident across its global operations. Their US headquarters is powered by a nearly 700-panel solar array, demonstrating a commitment to renewable energy and energy efficiency. They also have a dedicated division responsible for vetting suppliers – ensuring ethical practices and minimizing environmental impact throughout the supply chain.
Geiger was also one of the first, and now the largest donor of the SHAREcenter, an upcycling non-profit in Lewiston, Maine. The SHAREcenter program collects unwanted goods - everything from furniture, paper, and craft supplies to promotional products - and gets them in the hands of local educators and community members in need. Peter Geiger, fourth-generation family owner, serves as chair of the board of directors of the SHAREcenter.
